Blodgett has the following position available:

Job Title:  Bookkeeper

Location: Fishkill, NY

Experience Required: Minimum of 3 years

Minimum Education Required: High School or equivalent

Expected Start Date: 10/16/2017

Salary Range: $14 to $20/hour

Hours per Week: 20 to 25

This is a part time civil service non-competitive position.  Actual salary commiserate with experience.

This position requires thorough knowledge of methods, practices, and terminology used in financial and statistical clerical work; thorough knowledge of record keeping practices, office terminology, procedures and equipment; working knowledge of modern accounting theory and practices; working knowledge of single and double entry  bookkeeping  practices;  working  knowledge  of  the  current  principles;  practices,  methods,  and capabilities of high speed electronic data processing, ability to follow complex oral and written directions; ability to prepare simple statistical reports; ability to prepare financial reports; ability to communicate effectively  with  others,  both  orally  and  in  writing;  integrity;  good  accounting  judgment;  physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Primary Duties:

Adhere to all applicable local, state, and federal rules, regulations and laws.
Online QuickBooks usage.
Enter checks and receipts (including Accounts Receivables) into QuickBooks.
Processing of Accounts Payable Records.
Payroll-submit and verify required information to QuickBooks, Cut bi-weekly payroll checks.
Track payroll expenditures.
Reconcile all Bank Accounts monthly.
Monthly reports and comparison for the Board of Trustees.
Preparing Vouchers and Invoices as needed for approved activities.

Variable/ Additional Duties:

Maintenance of personnel records.
Prepare additional financial documentation as necessary for grants, contracts or reports.
Prepare and record all year-end adjustments.
Prepare all required yearly reports for the auditor and complete Annual Report to NY State.

Assist Director to develop Annual Operating Budget.
Advise Director of potential improvements in accounting procedures or policies and to refine the presentation of financial statements when needed.

Walking Tour Guides

Stop by Blodgett and pick up a Walking Tour guide of the Village of Fishkill. It is a self guided tour and has information about multiple significant historical places in the village.

Quiet Meditation Center

Quiet Meditation Center       Mondays 12pm-2pm

Starting Monday November 7th the Community Room will be available as a drop-in Quiet Meditation Center. All levels are welcome. Come for 10 minutes at lunch, stay the whole time, or anything in between. There will be a brief guided meditation at 12pm to help novices get comfortable via breathing and relaxation.

Computer Classes

Blodgett offers free computer classes for beginners. If you would like to learn more about computers please call the library for details. 845-896-9215

Pint Size Playgroup

Food Collection

Blodgett Memorial Library is proud to pair with the Fishkill Food Pantry in supporting our community. We invite our patrons to bring in food donations to help support our fellow neighbors in need. Fishkill Food Pantry is especially in need of the following items:

Meats (Spam, Treat, Chicken, Turkey, Ham), Tuna

Beans (Pork & beans, kidney, black, pinto, white), Dry beans

Canned dinners (Stew, Hash, Spaghettios), Spaghetti sauce, canned tomatoes

Evaporated milk, Juice, Soup, Broth, coffee, pasta

Peanut butter & Jelly

Bathroom tissue, Bar soap

(Monetary donations enable us to purchase as-needed fresh perishables and will be accepted at the front desk)

eBooks for Kids!

The library has expanded services with a new digital collection website experience just for kids. The main MHLS Digital Download Collection now has a separate site to provide a safe and easy browsing experience for kids.

Libraries recognize the need to provide a safe environment for kids to browse library materials. Just as the children’s section of the physical library has its own place, the same experience is now available in the digital collection for kids eBooks and audiobooks. Browsing can be done by subject, reading level or interest level. Check out the Kid’s eReading Room.
